Members of the county assembly (MCAs) behind the impeachment of embattled Nairobi governor Mike Sonko have downplayed claims that the move was ill-advised.
Speaking before the senate, the members have alluded that all procedures were followed and have enough evidence to vindicate the governor.
“We shall table overwhelming evidence of how Governor Sonko has plundered the resources of the hustler nation.” Said Ndegwa Njiru, Lead Counsel, Nairobi County Assembly.
“The impeachment was not out of malice…we are having a case of a Governor gone rogue, a governor who fails to appreciate that the Governor has to live by laws…”
The legislators affirmed they have lined 3 crucial witnesses and evidence that they shall be presenting to the honorable house of the grounds that have brought governor Sonko before the senate.
On his part, governor Mike Sonko’s lead counsel Harrison Kinyanjui asked the speaker to be considerate with the evidence tabled by the MCAs insisting part of it were fabricated lies.
“I have not been presented by any evidence against the Governor.
