The Royal Media Services has elevated seven journalists to key leadership roles in its radio department.
This, they said, follows the vacancy in the managing director’s office after Robin Njogu, succumbed to covid-19. Mr. Young Muthomi has been appointed the new MD.
“Following the untimely demise of our colleague Robin Njogu, and in consideration of the need to build on that great legacy and face the challenges ahead, Mr. Young Muthomi has been appointed as the new Managing Director-Radio, with effect from May 2021,” the communique reads.
Veteran editor and presenter Lincon Njogu has been appointed deputy managing g director and will be in charge of all correspondents, reporters, and other desk operations.
Isaac Swila, who has been in the sports department has been elevated to the position of news editor.
“The new role makes him part of the core leadership team charged with shaping the new direction of news products across all our radio stations,” Director Joe Ageyo says in the memo.
Others are Christine Ojiambo and Jopsephat Odipo who have both been given senior News Anchor and producer roles.
Edwin Obuya, who has been serving as a political reporter, and Jacob Icia of sports have both become Sub Editors.
The Digital desk will benefit from the experience of Esther Njeri Ngugi, who will serve as its Sub-editor.
