Speculations were rife that Switch TV’s sports journalist Kelvin Kimathi would either join K24 or KBC. 47 reporters can authoritatively confirm that Kimathi is joining the sports desk at DCM place where K24 is based.
Aware of the chemistry between the two journalists while at the Redcross owned media house (Switch TV ), K24 management has seemingly been forced to seek the services of Kelvin Kimathi.
Kimathi’s stint came to the limelight as a sports intern while at KTN news. His entry at K24 is likely to boost the new dream team being grounded to shape the newsroom after a mass sacking at K24 weeks ago.
A new round of layoffs at president Uhuru Kenyatta’s owned media house saw senior journalists among them, sports presenter Tony Kwalanda, Apopo Mujema, and Torome Tirike served with redundancy notices in May. Close to 50 journalists were shown the door as the management focused on employing fresh talents with lower pay as compared to those sacked.
