Ugandan president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has warned citizens against eating Monkeys at the wake of new Ebola cases in neighboring Congo.
In presser, Museveni on Tuesday cautioned Ugandans that meat from Monkeys was contagious and would cause Ebola.
‘’I have been telling people not to eat monkeys, monkeys are your relatives, why do you eat them?’’
Congo is battling two risky diseases after emergence of a new Ebola case in the country. The world Health organization WHO was almost declaring the county Ebola free before the new case was reported on April 10, 2020.
Prior to this, the last person who was confirmed to have Ebola in DRC tested negative twice and was discharged from a treatment center on 3 March 2020
The number of Covid19 cases in Uganda stands at 235 with 17 deaths.
Museveni was speaking while addressing Ugandans the steps the country has taken to combat the spread of Corona Virus disease in the country. He has extended the stay at home order with a further 21 days in a bid to fight the spread of the disease.
Uganda has of now recorded 54 Covid19 cases with 4 recoveries. No death has been reported in the country.
