A man, 46, is in pain at RAM hospital in Kisii after he was stabbed in the abdomen severally by goons allegedly attached to Kasipul Member of Parliament Charles Ong’ondo.

Kenneth Jabuya, a tutor at Omiro Technical Training Institute, Tom Mwombo Vocational Training Center in Homabay County and an employee of Homabay county government, was having some good time with his friends on Sunday before the goons pounced and unleashed terror on him.

The goons who have been identified as Ken Osano – driver to the CDF van, Elijah Ayoo, Lamon Okoth Andiengi, Jerry Ouma Okiso and another only known as Roy.

It is reported that the goons together with Mr Ong’ondo arrived at Greenville Hotel in Bongu, Oyugis where they found Kenneth Jabuya, engaged in a brief altercation, before Roy could stab him.

Kenneth who contested for the West Kamagak Ward seat in 2013 is said to have been a key pillar in the MP’s campaign during the past 2017 election. He however, reportedly, differed with Mr Were’s leadership “because it was not responsive to the needs of the people of Kasipul.”

Nyanza Regional Police Coordinator Vincent Makokha confirmed the incident Monday saying the police had already obtained a warrant of arrest and were looking for the MP.

“We have already arrested four people in connection with the incident, and we are now looking for the MP who has gone into hiding,” said Mr Makokha.

But Mr Were who addressed the media in Kisumu same day distancing himself from the criminal act, saying there is no where he, as a leader could do that to his constituents.

According to him, he was having drinks in the upper parts of the when management of the facility told him that a person had been stabbed outside. According to the MP, his official bodyguards were not around.
However, Willis Abonga, a friend of Jabuya who was speaking in Kisii on Monday said the MP assaulted him last week Thursday in Kisumu, somewhere around Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital.

According to him, Mr Were is out to deal with any “positive criticism” to his leadership.

“Jabuya met Ken Osano at the gate of Rachuonyo Level Four Hospital in Oyugis on Wednesday, a day before my assualt, where he told Jabuya to inform me that the MP will deal with us,” Mr Abonga told reporters.

According to Abonga, the MP took a flight from Nairobi then went to assault him in Kisumu. A plan he said had been discussed at New Stanley Hotel in Nairobi. The MP robbed him his phone and Ksh3000 during the incident, he said.

He would then report the matter at Kondele Police Station – OB Number 47/30/05/2019, and he is upbeat the police will get to the bottom of the matter.

Mr Abonga believes the attack of his hospitalized friend came as a result of Jabuya’s firm opinion against his assault last week.

Witnesses of the Sunday incident are said to have begged the MP to rush helpless Jabuya to the hospital using the CDF van but he declined. A former MCA of East Kamagak Ward, a Mr Apasi, was the good samaritan who then rushed the him to Matata Hospital in Oyugis town.

Amidst the unfolding bloody incident, it’s reported that Osano started the vehicle when Roy, Elijah and Were got into the vehicle but Lamon and Okiso did could not catch up with the speeding vehicle.

That’s when members of the public descended on Okiso and Lamon, beating them to near death. Police on patrol, however, rescued them from the mob. Okiso would die that evening at around 9:30. Larmon on the other hand is also fighting for survival at Rachuonyo Level Four Hospital.

While the police said Mr Okiso died at the hospital, other sources indicate he died in a police cell.
