Six girls from St. Joseph’s Ganjala Secondary in Funyula, Busia County have been suspended for refusing to shave their hair.

According to the students, their church (Message of the Hour Assemblies) does not allow shaving of the hair a scenario that puts them in conflict with the school management

The girls were paraded at the assembly by the principal who is later reported to have asked them leave the school.

Their parents have vowed to follow what their counterparts at Olympic High School in Kibra did by going to court.

A month ago, a form one student at Olympic secondary school was to be denied admission for having dreadlocks.

After the intervention of Third way Alliance party leader Dr Ekuru Aukot, the parents filed a case at a Nairobi Court which later ordered the school to admit the girl.

Her family testified that all their family members are Rastafarians and they are forbidden by the Bible from cutting their hair.
